Simon Ashkar
Sales Consultant
Simon Ashkar
“Simon the likable” was the nickname given to him by his colleagues and managers at Allans Music when he worked there during his university studies. On his second week of his employment there, his manager returned to work after the Cup-Day long weekend and was astounded by the spaciousness of the sales floor: Simon had sold out all the grand pianos! His reply to the manager was, “I just had a stocktake sale of my very own!"
Born in Hong Kong and raised in the leafy Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, he attended Carey Grammar Baptist School where he was a prefect, captain of Sport and won numerous awards, including “All Rounder Student of the Year”.
Simon’s first university degrees in Bachelor of Pharmacy could have given him a solid career in the field, but he found working behind a 5 square metre space behind the dispensary too constraining. He likes to be out and about, dealing with people and creating a network of friends at the same time. That’s why he came to Castran Gilbert as a Sales Consultant doing exactly that, after completing his second degree in Business entrepreneurship (RMIT). He was the only student who completed his degree in 2 years after receiving credits from his life experience (He had previously run a successful café business in Balwyn, training consultancy company and one of the founding managers at the Airport Hilton Hotel Melbourne).
Remember the old saying, “People buy from people they like?" Could that be the reason why Simon has found success at Castran Gilbert? Aside from being likable, he has an uncanny intuition, unfaltering dedication to his clients and advanced communication skill.
Since 1999, he has run a series of concerts annually at Melbourne University and Federation Square, performing solo piano works and concertos with orchestral. He always does his best work under pressure.
Simon speaks fluent Cantonese and of course, English.
